1. Introduction

We try to be as unrestrictive as possible in letting members use this service to its full potential, but we must make some ground rules as the service is shared by other Branches and YM Sections. If you have any questions about these Terms and Conditions, please contact the local.iee.org IT Officer.

2. Webpage Content

All web pages placed on this server MUST:

• 2.1: Clearly show the page authors name and a contact Email Address
• 2.2: Clearly show the date the page was last updated
• 2.3: Have a link back to http://www.iee.org
• 2.4: Have a link back to http://local.iee.org
• 2.5: Have a link back to your own front page

All web pages placed on this server MUST NOT:

• 2.6: Use an IEE logo image linked to anywhere other than http://www.iee.org
• 2.7: Contain content unrelated to IEE business or persons involved therein
• 2.8: Contain any content that may be misinterpreted or frowned upon by any person viewing the page

3. File types and locations

Members are permitted to freely upload the following file types into their assigned location:

• HTML files (suffix .htm or .html)
• SHTML (Server Side Include) files (suffix .shtm or .shtml)
• PHP files (suffix .php)
• Scripts written in perl and shell (suffix .pl, .sh)
• All known Graphics, Flash and Document files (excluding Microsoft Office files)

Members must not upload the following file types into their assigned location without first seeking consent from the local.iee.org IT Officer.

• .htaccess files
• Executable (.exe) files
• Microsoft Office Documents, or any other document that could contain viruses

Members wishing to upload scripts written in the php, perl or shell languages must be mindful that local.iee.org is a shared server and serious consideration must be made to

• Processing power required
• Other users' files must not be modified or deleted
• Server security

Please also submit your script to the local.iee.org IT Officer at the time of uploading so that a database of what scripts are on the server can be made (to avoid duplication, etc).

If any scripts are found to be a security risk to the server, excessively load the server or add modify or delete any file which is not owned by the scripts owning area then the script will be deleted or moved away to prevent its use and the owner contacted.

For this reason, all scripts must contain an owner name and contact Email address as a comment at the top of the script. This must be the Web Master responsible for its use.

4. Special Rules on Graphics

Please remember that images are subject to the same copyright law as text. Ensure that if you upload an image to the server, you do not violate the copyright of that image (i.e. you have sought the owners permission to upload the file).
